About Us

We all have a limited time in this world and a lot of it is spent at work. When we do go on vacation, many of us end up doing the same things: city tours, beach holidays… even bungie jumping is old news.

At jobtourist.net, we thought it would be nice to experience something new: to spend our holidays fulfilling our potential and enriching our lives, so that each of us could say about ourselves:

"I’m not just a website developer. I’ve also tried carpentry... and beekeeping. I spent a few days as a forester. I’ve herded sheep. I’ve made wine."

jobtourist.net brings together two groups of people. Jobtourists, who want to experience their dream job and Jobcoaches, skilled professionals who want to share their knowledge with others.

After launching in Switzerland in October 2010, we are currently seeking English speaking Jobcoaches all over the world. If you are passionate about your profession and want to share your knowledge with interested Jobtourists, become a Jobcoach!

How did we come up with the idea for Jobtourism? One evening we went out for dinner and began discussing our idea of a perfect vacation experience. As we were throwing around ideas about city tours, beach holidays, camping excursions and adventure travel, our waiter brought us a bowl of the most delicious white tomato soup. After tasting it, we thought we'd like to spend a few days learning from the chef who had made it. And on second thought, why not do something similar every year? Spend a few hours or days trying out interesting professions. We created jobtourist.net to make that experience possible. As a side note, we were very happy when the same chef who prepared our soup decided to offer Jobtours in his kitchen. Although we still don't know that white tomato soup recipe…
